Mining in a DRIPA World

The convergence of the push for Critical Minerals and the adoption of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples is changing the nature of relationships in mining.

think: act is active with Inspire Resources, a mining company that seeks to upend the value proposition of mining.

The way that mining is organized is deeply colonial, so think: act works with mining companies, investors and governments to help make the transition to free, prior and informed consent (FPIC).

Think: act brings a combination of:

  • Experience in Indigenous community engagement and co-designing initiatives with Indigenous communities;

  • Expertise in helping organizations to engage more successfully with First Nations and Indigenous communities

Inspire Resources is working with a range of industry partners to build capacity for miners to make the change to a new way that includes:

  • Free, Prior and Informed Consent, from the point at which a claim is staked

  • Communities co-own and co-design mines in partnership with mining companies

  • Communities have a long-term plan that the resource project can support so that the community is better off afterwards

  • Revenue from mining support long-term sustainable development for rural and Indigenous communities.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Make it stand out.
