Regional and Provincial redesign of HIV and Hep C services for Indigenous people

Leaders of Indigenous organizations providing community-based support for people living with HIV and Hepatitis C were stretched for resources.

It was difficult to address both the service needs and multiple barriers that their clients faced

We helped them partner with the Ministry of Health and health authorities to review services provincially and redesign funding to better meet their needs.

We had an opportunity to complete this cycle of work with Northern Health, where community-based services for Indigenous people living with HIV and Hep C were concentrated in three communities in BC’s north.

Northern Health Authority wanted to ensure that these services were available to people closer to where they live.

Think: act worked with existing leaders and built relationships to help create a network of service providers to quadruple the number of communities with accessible services.
